Tips to keep Frozen, Fresh!

  1. Buy frozen produce at the end of your grocery trip. It is important to transport produce as quickly as possible from the store to your home freezer. It can be helpful to keep a cooler or insulated bag in your car to ensure frozen products don’t thaw on the ride home, especially during the summer months.
  2. Make sure your freezer is set to 0°F (-18°C) and do not overfill. This ensures the safety and quality of frozen fruits & vegetables.
  3. Consume frozen products as quickly as possible after purchase. It’s best to consume them before the expiration or “use by” date.
  4. Using a microwave oven to prepare frozen vegetables isn’t just convenient – it also minimizes the opportunity for vitamins and mineral to leach out.
  5. Cook all frozen vegetables according to the instructions on the label.
  6. Cook frozen vegetables as soon as you take them out of the freezer – do not thaw on the counter or in the fridge. Use a fork to prick the vegetables to see if they are ready and avoid overcooking them
